Frozen Semen Services

During the winter of 1999 semen from the approved Swedish Warmblood stallions, L.A. Baltic Sun (Pontus X Nirvana by Cyrano) and L.A. Baltic Inspiration (L.A. Baltic Sun X L.A. Utrilla by Utrillo), was collected and frozen under quarantine conditions that meet all the requirements for export to European countries. Additional straws were also frozen for domestic use.

If you are interested in breeding to these stallions or in brokering semen from them and if you are in a country whose requirements are the same as those for Europe, please contact Gail Carmona ( Semen was frozen in 0.5ml aliquots (similar to that normally used in Europe) and is in
storage with Breeder's Select Services, Md.

We are interested primarily in working with reproduction centers who have experience with the use of frozen semen.

L.A. Baltic Sun

L.A. Baltic Inspiration

L.A. Baltic Sun was the only North American approved stallion to be rated "Premium A" by the Swedish Warmblood Association of Sweden. He was a Grand Prix Dressage horse and sire of 3 approved stallions, 1 diploma mare and many champion offspring both at halter and in performance (Hunters, Jumpers and Dressage).

L.A. Baltic Sun was himself the Champion Young Horse of "Dressage At Devon" and went on to sire 2 Champion stallions, 6 winning Breeder's Groups (best group of 2 or 3 horses bred by one breeder) as well as numerous winners at halter and under saddle of "Dressage At Devon." His offspring won more winning Breeder's Groups and Get of Sire Classes at "Dressage at Devon" than ever produced by any stallion of any breed. In 1997 he ranked 10th on the SOBA Leading Dressage Sire's list of more than 1200 stallions.

He proved himself as a champion dressage horse, winning numerous United States Dressage Federation Horse of the Year titles through the F.E.I. Levels, and as an outstanding sire of truly beautiful, tractable and highly trainable athletes.

L.A. Baltic Inspiration is the highest scoring North American approved Swedish Warmblood stallion in the country. He is also a Star Oldenberg stallion and sire of the highest scoring SWB mare in North America. The show records of his offspring ranked him 75th (out of over 1,120 stallions) in the USEF's 2005 List of Leading Dressage Sires and 67% of his inspected offspring have graded Premium Class 1 or higher. He is the sire of an approved SWB stallion as well as 2 diploma mares.

Ridden by Laura Chapot, he was Reserve Champion of the Florida circuit in 1999 at Intermediate Jumpers and went on to compete at the Grand Prix Level and to win the Gambler's Choice at Devon Horse Show that same year. He placed in every show entered on the Florida circuit in 2000 winning the Cosequin Palm Beach Finale and placing 2nd at the Tampa Bay Classic.

In addition, this unusual stallion earned the United States Dressage Federation All Breed Horse of the Year title at Fourth Level in 1998 and has competed successfully through F.E.I. Prix St. Georges as well as earning the Reserve Grand Championship, Mature Horse Championship and Stallion Championship at the prestigious "Dressage at Devon" show in 1998. He went on to learn all the movements of Grand Prix dressage but was retired from competition due to an injury in 2001.
